Curriculum Vitae / Professional Resume
Gary J. Maylon, Metal Lath & Stucco Consulting Co., Inc.
I have been involved with the stucco industry for over thirty-five years and have been involved in technical services and support for more than twenty years. During my career I worked for two of the largest manufacturers of expanded metal lath in North America . I am the author of “The Metal Lath Handbook.” This book was published in 2002 and has met with much success and excellent reviews from the lathing and plastering community. I was a past chairman of the Metal Lath Division of the Metal Lath/Steel Framing Association, past chairman of the Technical Executive Committee of Association of Walls and Ceilings International (AWCI), past chairman of the Steel Framing Technical Committee of AWCI, a former director on the board-of-directors of both AWCI, and The Foundation of the Walls and Ceiling Industry, a long time member of The Construction Specifications Institute, chairman of the C 1063 task group and a voting member of committee C-11 of The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and a consulting member of committee 524 on stucco of The American Concrete Association. In 1999 I received an award of appreciation from ASTM Committee C-11 for many years of service to this organization.
I currently hold seven industry related patents. In my thirty plus years in the stucco industry I have developed or improved many of the products used by the industry everyday.
Among my achievements I have published more than a dozen technical articles in various trade publications. In 1996 published the article published and entitled “Expanded Metal Lath Installation for the Application of Portland Cement Stucco, The Eight Deadly Sins.” in Construction Dimensions Magazine (published by AWCI). This was a two-part article, which was well received by the stucco industry. The Association of Walls and Ceiling Industries International subsequently republished these articles as a single stand alone document for industry distribution.
Technically, I have been involved in numerous forensic investigations of lath and stucco jobs across the United States during the last thirty four years. I have given numerous presentations on the subject of metal lath to groups and associations all across the United States .
Finally, I have testified in depositions, arbitrations and negotiated settlements on cases involving stucco related failures. Below is my work history resume.
